DeKalb – A Memorial Service for Starlen A. Wilson (94) will be held Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at 11am at DeKalb Christ Assembly,13803 Hwy 16 W, DeKalb, MS 39328. Starlen passed away Thursday, February 27th at MS Care Center DeKalb. Starlen is survived by his wife of 73 years, Esther Watkins Wilson (93), son’s Marcus (Faye), Aaron (Karen), Lowell (Mary), and daughter Miriam (Tommy) Watson. He has 9 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther S. & Mattie Smith Wilson, brother Paul Wilson, sisters, Dariee McArthur Miles and Lois Killough MIshler
Starlen was a Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from NAS Meridian as a civilian US Navy firefighter. After retirement Starlen started the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department staying involved as Fire Chief for the next 20 years. He also was co-founder of DeKalb Christ Assembly where he served on the board for many years.
Starlen loved his ancestral family farm in Kemper County, where he spent his life.
