He was born on July 24th, 1938 in Versailles, Kentucky.
Dr. Wayne Adams touched the hearts of many he met.
Dr. Wayne Adams graduated from Versailles High School and went on to attend the University of Kentucky. While at the University of Kentucky, he was accepted into the School of Veterinarian Medicine at Auburn University. Dr. Adams graduated from Auburn in 1964. He left Auburn and came to Meridian to intern with Dr. J.P. Carney, where he met the love of his life, Darnell. His life changed forever, and he became a Mississippi boy. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. In 1967 he built his veterinary practice on Highway 39 North, where he served his community until he retired over 42 years later. Many clients became more than clients, they became family. Many memories were shared and stories were told, oh the stories he could tell!
He was an avid hunter, he loved to coon hunt with bluetick hounds. He was known as Daddy Doc by his grandchildren and so many more that loved and admired him.
After retirement, he could be found enjoying his grandchildren, watching a little league football game, dance recitals or just spending time with them.
Dr. Adams is survived by his wife Darnell; children Missy High (Jim), CeCe Poe, Auburn Sweeney, Bricklee Miller (Donnie), Berea Howard (Micky); 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Marjorie Hackworth and Betty Perkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest and Beulah Adams and son Dr. Othel Wayne Adams Jr.
