A celebration of life service for Nell Allen Austin will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Stephen's Funeral Home, with visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Mrs. Austin, age 81, of Meridian, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Nell was born March 31, 1937, in Butler, AL to the late Gaines & Mary Smith and was a Clark Co. Beat 4 Valedictorian graduate. Nell retired from the Meridian Housing Authority, where she worked for over twenty years. She also worked for Barham and Stephens Funeral Homes for several years. Nell was a founding member of First United Pentecostal Church in Quitman, Mississippi and attended there for over forty years. In her time at the church, she could often be found serving, cleaning, and loving people. She is survived by her sons, Frank Austin and Ron Austin; grandson, Taylor Austin (apple of her eyes), daughter-in-love, Angela Austin; a host of nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Brenda McLeod.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Austin, daughter, Kathy Austin Allen and granddaughter, Noel; her sister, Grace Miller, and brother, BL Allen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be shared with the Nell Austin Memorial Fund at First United Pentecostal Church of Quitman, 129 County Road 151, Quitman, MS 39355 or online at give.upcquitman.com.

We are so sorry for your loss. May the loving memories you share and God's Word comfort you at this difficult time. One scripture that always comforts us is found at Revelation 21:3,4 -  "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." We hope it comforts you as well.
