Saying farewell to a longtime friend is always hard.... Big Petey, as I sit here surrounded by your family and friends I’m just lost for words....you were more than a friend, you more like a brother....the Good Ole Decatur High School Days.... hanging at the pool hall, cruising around in my 1969 Camaro (you probably drove it more than I did), chillin’ at my parents old house(that’s gone now), the fights we were in or watched at Jeff’s Crossing, the drag racing at Jeff’s Crossing, just all kinda of memories come to mind....out of the 32+ years we’ve known each other, I can’t recall one single time that you called me “Jay” or “JC”, it was always “J-Bird”... heck, I never called you “Frank”, it was always Big Petey...I don’t think I even knew your name was Frank for years....lol... but if I called I knew you would be there..that’s the kind of person/friend you were.... When we saw each other it was “What’s up Big Petey”?? Followed by “What’s up J-Bird”??....I’m gonna miss that !! I’m gonna miss you ! Until one day when we see each other again, Rest easy Big Petey, love ya brother !!

I worked with Pete at MDOT. I considered him a "gentle giant". He was a BIG man in many ways -ways that really mattered in life. What you leave behind in life is how you will be remembered. He left a legacy of love through his children. May God bless them and his family during this sad time.

Although I never met Mr.Sperandeo, I have had the pleasure of teaching his two beautiful children, Mia and PJ. My heart breaks for them. I know their dad must have been a wonderful man because of the respect, humility, and kindness evident in his children. May God comfort your family and give these children peace in knowing that HE has a perfect plan.
