Jesus is the Song
Maudine Dudley fought the good fight and finished the race on September 7,
2018 at 1:59am. She was surrounded by her family as she passed from this
life into eternity. Her husband JR and countless friends and family welcomed
her into heaven as the angels rejoiced.
Maudine was born to George and Ollie Thrash of Lake, Mississippi on February
29, 1928. She was the youngest of nine children and was their only daughter.
She is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren and one great
grandson. John Russell Dudley, III and wife Julia (Raleigh, North Carolina)
Mary Elizabeth Dudley (Meridian, Mississippi), Ben Clayton Dudley and
wife Mary (Scooba, Mississippi) Granddaughters; Sarah, Anna, Libba
and Jeana Dudley, Carol Denise Dudley Roberts and husband Paul (Meridian, Mississippi)
Grandson; Dr. Russell Roberts and wife Julie and son Owen Russell Roberts
Granddaughter; Abby Roberts, Joanna Dudley Hebert and husband Joe (Hurst, Texas)
Granddaughters: Jennifer and Jessica Hebert.
Maudine attended LSU obtaining a Masters Degree in Music and began her
career in music education at Hinds Community College.
In 1957 she married John Russell “J.R.” Dudley, Jr.of Scooba, Mississippi.
They shared 56 years of marriage and were blessed with five children.
She continued her music career at East Mississippi Community college,
Kemper Academy and private teaching, but her favorite career was being a wife and mother.
She served as church pianist and music director of Scooba Baptist Church for more than 55 years.
She was a tireless worker and served in numerous capacities in her church and community including
Associational WMU Director, Vacation Bible School Director,
Mississippi Farm Bureau District leader, and 4-H leader. She mentored and encouraged
countless young men and women throughout her life.
Her life was one of service to the Lord, to her family and to her church and
community. She was not content to offer God anything but her best and
encouraged others to use their gifts and talents for the Lord.
Jesus was truly her Song of Life and Song of Joy and she will be lovingly
remembered by her family as the VERY BEST mother, grandmother, great
grandmother and mother-in-law. Her love for others and her determination
and perseverance leave an example of excellence for all to follow.
Her home going celebration will be Monday, September 10, 2018 at Scooba
Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00pm-3:00pm in the Fellowship Hall
