Funeral services for Mrs. Elnora McCraw Rigdon will be held Thursday, April 26th, at 11 am in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home of Union. Rev. John Martin will be officiating. Burial will follow in Union City Cemetery.
Mrs. Rigdon, 98, of Union, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Birchwood Assisted Living Center in Union.
She was retired having worked as a line factory employee at the shirt factory. Mrs. Rigdon will always be remembered as a loving but feisty lady. She loved her family very much. She loved being outdoors fishing, camping, working in her yard, and gardening. She was the Den Mother for the Cub Scouts for many years, teaching and shaping young boys’ lives. During Country Day, she would always have a family gathering, which started with one side of the family, then the other side of the family began attending and before long a large group of folks would look forward to being there. She also loved to sit on her front porch, waving and speaking to those who passed.
She is survived by her children Elizabeth Boxrud (James), Dwight Rigdon (Jean), Ralph Rigdon (LaDonna); grandchildren Heather Cooper (Monty), Amber Maranya (Damon), Benjamin Rigdon (Tegan), Nicole Myrick (James), Sarah Davis (Vinnie), James Boxrud Jr., Angela Wagner, Thomas Boxrud, Rachel Augustine, Eric Boxrud; great-grandchildren Taylor Rigdon, Madison Woodson, Hunter Rigdon, Collin Rigdon, Anna Claire Ward, Kinzleigh Rigdon, Chael Skinner, Chloe Cooper, Elsie Maranya, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents J.M. and Cora McCraw; husband Quention Rigdon; daughters Edith and Evelyn Rigdon; grandson Anthony Rigdon and eleven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, April 25th, from 5pm until 8pm and on Thursday 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Jerry Russell, Phil Eldridge, Monty Cooper, Vinnie Davis, Benjamin Rigdon, and Taylor Rigdon. Honorary pallbearers are Jackie McCraw and Howard Holland. I was an aide at River Birch for awhile and helped take care of Ms. Elnora. I grow to love her very much and always enjoyed being with her. She would always sing the song "Hey hey good looking" with men. I'm so sorry for y'all's loss praying for y'all.
